THE EARLY CHILDHOOD COMMISSION LEGISLATED FUNCTIONS
The
Commission’s legislated functions as stated in the
Early
Childhood Commission Act
are to:

Advise
the Cabinet, through the Minister of Education and
Youth, on policy matters relating to ECD, including
initiatives and actions to achieve national ECD
goals

Assist
in preparation of plans and programmes concerning
ECD
-
Monitor and evaluate implementation of plans and
programmes for ECD and make recommendations to the
Government.
- Act
as a co-ordinating agency to streamline ECD
activities

Convene consultations with relevant stakeholders as
appropriate
-
Analyse the resource needs of the sector and make
recommendations for budgetary allocations
-
Identify alternative financing through negotiation
with donor agencies and liase with them to ensure
efficient use of the funds provided.

Regulate early childhood institutions
